Approach
The subjects examined by Florence Roller are above all encounters; the emotions they inspire are a reflection of what drives her. Florence Roller practices her art on three levels that overlap, occasionally oppose and often fuel each other: her personal projects, commissioned works and teaching, linked by the common theme of her interest in people and everyday matters.
Series on exhibition
"Je vole, le vent me rattrape"
The desire to experience new smells, sounds and gestures, as well as new combinations of colours, led her to Japan in 2006. As the fruits of discovery and a dramatic change of scenery, these photos convey her astonishment and attraction faced with this strange yet similar foreign land. The series was produced in Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo.
"Nous n’irons plus au bois"
This series of photographs recounts an absence. They are a long-distance dialogue with people who have disappeared or moved away. These snapshots are for them. They are portraits of individuals or places composed of a single or set of several images, containing snippets of stories that take shape in a flexible, fleeting and free manner. It is a space for projection, a screen or a mirror where images unfold, transform, combine, contrast, reverse, switch and contaminate each other.
Biography
Born in 1978, a graduate of the Strasbourg Higher School of Decorative Arts with congratulations from the jury in 2005, Florence Roller works as a photographer and independent graphic artist for publishing houses, communication agencies, companies and cultural and social organisations. Since 2008, she has held introductory image workshops for secondary students. She lives and works in Paris, Lyon and Strasbourg.

Prizes
The introductory image workshop "Regards sur soi, regards sur l’autre" received the "Prix de la Tolérance" from the Académie de Strasbourg in 2009.
